in memory
Tim Childs
http://www.justgiving.com/timchilds1
It only took running the Bupa 10k last May for Tim to get inspired to sign up for this year’s London marathon - and now he’s well into his fundraising and training.
He talks about why he decided to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support, and the friends that inspired him, on his Justgiving page - it’s a really moving story well worth a read.
Tim’s still got a way to go towards his big marathon target, and we wish him all the best and hope you’ll share all your best tips and support.
Hilary and Andrew Watson

Hilary wants to celebrate her recovery from cancer - and turning 60 - by taking on the challenge of running the London marathon this year.
She’s doing it in memory of her sister Anne and friends Christine and Jennie, who weren’t lucky enough to recover, and raising money for Cancer Research to help stop this disease taking lives like theirs in future.
Inspired by her son and team mate Andrew, who ran the New York marathon in 2007, she’s absolutely determined to finish.
Good luck to you both!
Mike Parr

Mike’s raising money for Bowel Cancer UK in memory of his mum, Margaret Parr.
Margaret, much missed, passed away last year and Mike is taking on the huge challenge of running the London marathon as “a fitting tribute to a wonderful mum, wife, daughter and friend.”
He gives a great insight into Maragret’s life in his personal message and also adds an update on his training.
Good luck Mike!
Laura Roth and Katie Pinnes

Laura emailed us this week to say:
“I was going to tweet you but then thought I would run out of characters!
I am running the London Marathon this year with my friend Katie. We are running for Children in Crisis in memory of my 28 year old brother who tragically died four years ago in a climbing accident in Nicaragua.”
We wish you all the best Katie and Laura! Thanks for getting in touch.
Amanda Wilkins

This is Amanda’s marathon costume - her way of making sure she stands out on the day of the race and a reminder of another inspirational fundraiser.
She’s proud to be running for Macmillan Cancer Support, to honour of the memory of her friend Michael, who also used to dress up a jester to raise money for the cause.
Three years ago, Michael died of a brain tumour, but his memory lives on through the Amanda and Michael’s family’s dedicated fundraising work.
Shamil Morjaria

Shamil says:
“Rhiya was my beautiful two and a half year old niece who’s life was tragically taken while in the care of her nursery. Our sad loss has left a hole in the hearts of everyone who knew her and loved her.
Before Rhiya’s birth, Rhiya’s parents lost a little boy who was born too premature to survive. For this reason, having Rhiya in our family felt like a miracle.
In memory of my niece, I have chosen to take part in a marathon to raise money for the charity Bliss. This charity means a lot to us as it supports the care of premature babies that are born too early and often very unwell.”
