Sarah Kemp, running for Samaritans

Sarah’s top fundraising tips are:
1) Hold a bake off - With Easter fast approaching you ask work colleagues to enter a bake off competition by baking easter themed cakes or biscuits. They then pay £3 to enter their cake. Those who arent quite so talented in the kitchen pay £3 to eat slices from all the cakes and score them. I bought a small easter egg for the winner and managed to raise £120.
2) Hold a charity speed dating event - this week I am holding a speed dating event at a local bar. They gave me the room for free as its for charity and I charged £6 per ticket to take part. I persuaded a friend to DJ after the event and I have sold tickets for coming to see the music set at half price. I have 16 speed dating couples and therefore I am looking to raise over £200 from this one event.
3) Speak to your local supermarket - offer to pack bags at the checkouts for one day and persuade some friends and family to help out. Ask people to make a donation for packing their bags.
Amanda Wilkins, running for Macmillan Cancer Support

We really like this tip that Amanda sent us:
“Find another runner in your area, preferably running for the same charity. I teamed up with Kathryn Warren, also running for Team Macmillan, to run a bumper quiz.
We shared the expenses and shared the profits and the work. We had a fun, successful evening and ended up with £83 each towards our sponsorship. We are planning another quiz later on.”
Margot Lieber, running for Children in Crisis

Margot tells us how she used her birthday party as a fundraising drive:
“My main idea for fundraising was my birthday party. I have enclosed the invitation I sent to my close friends. As you can see on my page, I had a wonderful, very generous friend. More donations will come now through my husbands connections and friends that are not so close. I will have a go.”
Here’s the invitation that Margot sent to her birthday party:
“Please Come To My Princess Party
Where: 41 Carlton Hill
When: Sat 7th –March 2009
Time: 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm buffet lunch
RSVP : margot@lieber.org.uk
P.S. No presents YOUR presence and dancing shoes.
I wanted to do something meaningful for my 40th birthday and I was lucky enough to be able to secure a Gold Bond place in the London Marathon supporting Children in Crisis, which is a charity focusing mainly on education for the world’s most vulnerable children.
Did you know that 72 million children around the world don’t have access to an Education! In many occasions due to been victims of war such as in countries like Afghanistan, Congo and Sierra Leone. Without education these children have no HOPE.
Please support me with my effort to give a small drop of HOPE to these children by sponsoring Children in Crisis @ www.justgiving.com/margotlieber.
In peace and beauty,
Margot”
