We announce the winners of our PayPal Food-Film-Pun-Off
Congratulations to the winning punsters and benefitting charities, and huge thanks to everyone who took part.
You’re invited to take a tea break and enjoy all these puns for yourselves…
Running Photo Comp – Winners!
It’s time to announce the winners of our Running Photo competition! A big thank-you to everyone who sent us photos, but we could only pick four overall winners and here they are:

Richard Whitcher – We loved this really artistic black and white photo. We thought the addition of his running stopwatch time was a really innovative touch!

Darren Bradley – Darren’s clever use of Photoshop on a photo of his dad and his uncle made us laugh. “The original 118-118 team from the early eighties!”

Angie Carter – We thought Angie’s photo really showed someone running for enjoyment and we loved the sunny countryside background too!

Tracy Bliss – Tracy sent us her entry with the slogan ‘Running is raising money for charity whilst having fun!’ From this photo we can see that she definitely has fun, running as a cheeky devil-nun!
Well done to our winners, who all receive a copy of ‘The Rough Guide to Running’ and a £20 donation to their page. Thanks again to everyone who entered, we really enjoyed looking through your snaps!
You can find details of our new competition here. It’s a food-film-pun –off, and you could win a £1,000 donation to your page or the charity of your choice!
Sir Jog A Lot
Here’s James Barnard’s winning entry to our JustGiving London Marathon video competition.
Rough Guide to Running – Photo Comp!
To celebrate our new Runners’ Blog, Rough Guides have sent a few copies of ‘The Rough Guide to Running’ over to us at JG Towers. So we thought we’d get a little competition going and give them away as prizes at the end of the month along with a £20 donation to your JustGiving page.
It’s a really informative read – with everything from motivation to get you out of the door and running (something most of us find very hard to do!), to diet and hydration tips, advice on running gear to buy, stretching routines, training schedules for all different lengths of races, pages of help on avoiding injuries, as well as info on the top international marathons and even a glossary of runners jargon!
How do you get your hands on one of these wonderful running guides? Well they’re available from the Rough Guide website, as well as all good book stores. But to get one for FREE - all you have to do is enter our competition!
We want you to send us a photo that sums up what running means to you. The more creative, eye-catching and funny the better! To enter, just add your photo to our Flickr stream, or send us your picture via email to joanne@justgiving.com by Monday 24th August and we’ll judge the best one by the end of the month.
Go on, get running and get snapping!
It’s results time…
Last month we launched our competition to guess the fastest donation time through our new site. The results are in, and the fastest donation time we managed was 17.06 seconds. Click here for video evidence.
The winner with the closest guess was made by Thom McKiernan, who guessed a speedy 16 seconds. As a prize we will be donating £100 to his JustGiving page, which he has set up to collect funds for Lakelands Day Care Hospice.
Congratulations Thom, and a big thank you to everyone who entered!
(Don’t forget there is still time to enter our current Photo competition, read more details below)
Can you guess our fastest donation?
We’ve had a little office competition to make the fastest donation through the new JustGiving site.
If you can guess our record time, we’ll make a £100 donation on your page or to your favourite charity.
Just give us your opinion on the new site and add your guess at the end…
Hannah Howells, running for Guide Dogs

Here’s Hannah’s tip - actually it’s three in one - a bit of a tip of the day bonus!
“Offer a small prize, people love to win things. Be persistant dropping the marathon into conversation whenever possible (without becoming a bore) and keep smiling!
Oh and entering competitions like this are always a chance at a good fundraising boost.”
Ulen Neale, running for Volunteer Reading Help
http://www.justgiving.com/madasaboxoffrogs
Ulen, who’s well on his way to hitting his marathon fundraising target, sent us this tip on boosting donations using the power of social media:
“I’ve got a fundraising tip which worked for me. I know that you suggest the use of social media sites to get your friends to sponsor you (Facebook, Twitter etc.).
Last week I asked a friend to update his status to plug my Justgiving page, which he did, and through his status update I got further sponsorship.
So my tip is: hijack your friends’ status updates - get them to advertise your Justgiving page. Don’t do a blanket request though - ask individually those people you think most likely to help you out.”
Ulen’s ‘Everybody’s Free to Wear Vaseline‘ video also earned him a runner-up award in our marathon video competition.
Fancy winning a £100 donation?
We’ve only had a few entries to our video competition so far - that makes the competition wide open!
To make it a bit easier to enter, just make any short marathon-related video - whether it’s your top tip, something about the great cause you’re supporting or just a silly video of your training - and email it to sophie@justgiving.com
We’ll judge the best one next Friday, 20th March… so you’ve got a week to get your entries in… and a great chance of winning a £100 donation.
