Simon’s running for his grandparents

Simon’s taking an enterprising approach to fundraising for a cause very close to his heart:

“I’m running for Alzheimer’s Society because both my grandparents suffered from dementia. They were childhood sweethearts, who celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary in 2002; however it was clear then that they were struggling to cope on their own. My grandfather, Raymond Frost, died in 2006 after a long struggle with the condition and my grandmother, Betty Frost, died earlier this year.

To honour my Scarborough background and meet my target of £1,000, I’m hoping to ’sweeten’ the deal by selling special, limited edition sticks of rock.”

Good luck Simon! You can find out more and sponsor him here.

Mel Spencer is doing the Great North Run!

melspenOn 20th September Mel Spencer will be putting on her new running shoes and running the 13 miles of the Great North Run in Newcastle! She is running in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society, a charity which is close to her heart as her Grandad is a sufferer of the disease. ‘It’s really difficult to see someone who was once so funny and witty retract into himself and forget his surroundings, and I’m keen to further the work of this charity so that perhaps in a few years time the disease will be cured completely’.

Mel has never done a marathon before and has been getting shape especially for the cause! She still needs those donations though so check out her page here.

We here at JG Towers wish her the best of luck!

Phillip ran the London Marathon for Alzheimer’s Society and completed it in a fantastic time of 4 hours and 5 minutes. He is pretty pleased with his time and also with the nice tan that he got!

Hayley Martin

Having second thoughts, feeling daunted and experiencing terror at the 26.2 miles ahead have not put Hayley off this challenge.

Being able to do all of this to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society keeps spurring her on (and the thought of a pint at the end)…

Good luck Hayley!
