There is also a choice of running a half marathon or 10k distance and even a Junior 3k and 1.5k road race. So no excuse not to run off those summer barbeques! With over 19,000 entrants last year this run is one not to miss out on.

Fancy running the NYC Half-Marathon? The Fresh Air Fund needs you!
The Fresh Air Fund is still looking for runners to join their Fresh Air Fund-Racers team for the NYC Half-Marathon on August 16th.
The Fresh Air fund was set up in 1877, to provide free summer holidays for children from low income families in New York, who otherwise would not be able to escape the city during the summer months. Through the Fresh Air Fund they have the opportunity to go on camping trips where they can learn to swim, go hiking, do art classes or stay with a host family from another state for a week. Many children that benefit from the charity’s work go on to form lifelong friendships with other children as well as visiting new places that they could never have done without the help of the Fund.
Last summer’s NYC half-Marathon was a huge success and the Fresh Air Fund-Racers raised more than $125,000. If you can make it over to NYC for to run and fancy being part of a great half marathon then sign up. To read a bit more about the work they do for underprivileged kids in New York, to sign up or make a donation visit their website here.

Lakeland 100 Ultra Marathon
The Lakeland 100 is not an event for the fainthearted. Taking place on 31st July - 2nd August, this high endurance race of a circular 100miles has to be completed within a 40 hour time frame.
Promising some of the most beautiful panoramas and views of Cumbria’s famed countryside this is definitely an event for those with a love of the British landscape!
According to the events route planners: ‘It’s a stunning route with something for everyone: grassy paths, well benched tracks, boggy moorland trods, an old railway line, typical rugged Lakeland footpaths and very occasional tarmac. The relentless succession of hills, with a number of typical steep Lakeland ascents, add up to a total of 6800m of climb. Throw in the mix of rough downhills and exhilarating fast descents and you’ve got an event that will challenge both body and mind’.
One JustGiver who is confident he is up to this immense challenge is Barry Spencer.
He is running for Cancer Research UK and is confident of a 30 hours finish time.
Check out his blog here to read about his progress.
We wish Barry and all the other charity runners in the Lakeland 100 best of luck!
