Dave Hursthouse running the GNR again for the RNLI
He may have said ‘never again’ after last year’s Great North Run, but Dave Hursthouse will be running the GNR once again! So why is he putting himself through it again? Well as he says himself, “if the RNLI crew members volunteer to go out in all weather conditions to save lives at sea, then me volunteering to run 13.1 miles from Newcastle to South shields was a small sacrifice in comparison to help fund them!”
The RNLI, whose volunteer lifeboat crews provide 24 hour search and rescue across the UK’s shores, is a very personal charity for Dave, as he had to call on the RNLI for help when he had a sailing accident two years ago.
